Atlantic Balloon Fiesta Named One of North America’s Best Festivals!
In 1985, we were presented with an offer to extend the local tourist season in Sussex, New Brunswick, by hosting a Hot Air Balloon Festival—the pilots here said the air space was perfect for an event like this. Over 30 years later, we’re so glad we said yes. The event, now known as the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta, has grown into a local tradition that residents, business owners, and visitors all look forward to. It’s become a boon to the area, and, really, just a fun opportunity for everyone involved.
And with the next one around the corner, we’re here to share some great news: the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta was recently named one of North America’s best festivals!
In their definitive guide to where to travel to next, FlightNetwork, North America’s leading travel agency, ranked our event as one of the top on the continent, alongside some of our favourite festivals around. Here’s what they said about us:
Look! In the air! It’s a bird! A plane! No, it’s the Atlantic Balloon Fiesta, which is set to launch 30 hot-air balloons into the airs above Sussex, New Brunswick, twice a day for an entire weekend. And it’s not just up there that’s the spectacle—down on the ground is pretty cool, too. There’s a bandstand all weekend long that’s free to enter, a craft fair and vendors to peruse indoors, amusement rides for people of all ages, and a car show that gleams. The entire family is welcome to this one, and don’t forget to look up!
They go on to mention the best part: the festival is free! With that being said, we look forward to welcoming any newcomers this year, especially FlightNetwork readers and lovers. See you in two weeks! Be sure to check out FlightNetwork out on Facebook and Twitter.
